Job Overview

We are currently looking for an experienced, highly motivated Hotel Manager to take control of the day to day operations for our amazing wildlife lodge/ restaurant/ bar/ tour agency.

As Hotel Manager you will work with, and develop, the team to provide exceptional guest service, continually exceeding the highest possible standards whilst overseeing the smooth running of the hotel’s operations. You will be an excellent communicator and have greatly developed organizational and communication skills, being able to thrive within a high-pressured environment.

As Hotel Manager you must be a real team player, whilst being able to adapt and take charge in a variety of situations. You will have the highest attention to detail, whilst maximizing all sales opportunities for new and existing guests. You MUST thrive in nature environments as we are the most remote jungle lodge in Costa Rica. We are boat access only and there is no access to roads or stores at our location which poses challenges with basic tasks like food deliveries. Simple tasks in the jungle can be more difficult then anywhere else and you must be up for the challenge.

Start date: December 1st

Salary: $850 monthly + food and housing onsite

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Plan, implement and manage overall hotel daily operations including tours

  • Conduct hotel budgeting and financial planning

  • Make food and material orders & coordinate boat transportation

  • Manage and monitor hotel expenses

  • Manage and track hotel & bar inventory

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with visitors and clients

  • Build relationships with vendors & boat captains

  • Suggest and implement new ideas

  • Track KPIs and produce reports

  • Hire and onboard new hotel staff

  • Evaluate staff performance

  • Manage wait staff in the restaurant & quality control with wait staff service

  • Prepare and manage schedules and shifts


  • Proven experience as Hotel Manager or relevant role

  • Ability to handle unexpected situations

  • Fluency in English and Spanish

  • Knowledge of other languages is a big plus

  • Ability to coordinate complicated deliveries and multiple tours per day in English and Spanish

  • General knowledge of MS Office

  • Excellent customer service skills 

  • Great decision making and problems solving skills

  • Good leadership skills

  • Ability to motivate staff

  • Degree in Business Administration, Hospitality Management, or relevant field is a plus
